This section is a representation of Cathy’s home lifestyle vision. She created those pieces for her own home, each of them satisfying a functional purpose, using her own design language.
CANDLESTICKS
Design: CAB
Hand crafted from solid bronze, these candlesticks oozes an earthy ancient aesthetic that is wonderfully complemented by the flickering flame of candlelight.
Naming the mirrors ‘Bubble’ because the shapes remind her of dreams bubbling up from the sub-conscious into the waking mind, Cathy has mixed different sizes of pipe section into asymmetric patterns to create a contrast between the strength of the metal and the ‘delicacy’ of the decorative effect.
The technique can be used to make a wide range of pieces including screens and picture frames.
Crafted from steel and set on wheels, its sturdy frame holds a linen laundry bag, while its padded lid becomes a comfortable and space-saving perch. Ideal for either the bedroom or bathroom, it’s easy to move around or store away.
A luxurious statement, this bespoke bar was designed for a period townhouse. The sturdy steel frame and fine marble top combine to create a stylish feature where family and friends can gather.
Cathy’s love of art books inspired her to create The Lazy Reader – a book stand on wheels made in steel. “My books collection is large and eclectic, the idea of them sleeping unopened and being reduced to decorative tools led me to design this book reader” Cathy explains “it is also my solution to enjoy really heavy books”.
