Bonfire

Another constantly evolving concept, Bonfire brings the idea of burning branches inside the house. The steel rods glow in the fire and emit appealing cracking and popping sounds as the steel begins to expand, providing a different experience every time it is lit.

Loop

Inspiration for 'Loop' came from the rings around the planet Saturn and the fire makes a stellar statement - with flames from an invisible burner leaping up through a sculpture of steel loops.

Off The Loop

This commission was designed to sit within an existing marble fireplace with an unusual raised 'box' hearth, from which Cathy's fire took its inspiration.
She raised the height of the burner to create a pronounced 'step' effect with the hearth. Floating above this, her 'Loop' fire tumbles out and over, tempering the classic symmetry with a hint of chaos.

Coil

'Coil' is a development from 'Loop' fireplaces which use individual steel rings of different sizes to create installations. In 'Coil', Cathy experiments with continuous springs of steel, brought to life by flames from an invisible burner leaping up through the sculpture.

Nest

A concept which Cathy has developed for indoors and out. Each piece is a total one off, made and sized to order. Prices for Nest start from £1200 for a piece 600wide x 300 deep.
Indoors: Nest sits on top of a concealed gas burner, filled with fake coals.
Outdoors: Nest can be used as an outside fire to burn real logs (real logs not recommended inside)

Metropolis

Cathy's homage to Fritz Lang's classic movie of 1927, Metropolis features tall strips of metal - echoing the film's extraordinary skylines. Gas flames lick through the 'skyscrapers' to cinematic effect.

Outside Fireplaces

Cathy Azria is re-inventing the bonfire for the garden. Built to special commission, her fires form the heart of an 'outdoor room'. Running on mains gas, they can be designed into a chimney or built into fireproof/frost proof vessels.
The size, positioning and sculptural forms are designed in conjunction with the client and the steel elements of each piece are left untreated, to develop a beautiful fire-tempered rusty patina. As flames lick through them, they also begin to glow red hot, creating spectacular effects which will be different every time the fire is lit.

Wave

Cathy's inspiration came from early memories of watching waves crashing on the seashore. She was equally fascinated by mountains and the Volcanic Wave combines, in abstract form, the physical shapes that waves and mountains share.

Mirror

Mixing different sizes of pipe section into asymmetric patterns to create a contrast between the strength of the metal and the ‘delicacy’ of the decorative effect. I’ve called the mirrors ‘Bubble’ because the shapes remind me of dreams – bubbling up from the sub-conscious into the waking mind. This technique can be used to make a wide range of pieces including screens and picture frames.

Concrete sculptures

Beautiful and simple, Totem evokes a feeling of calm and brings a possible meditation point to the garden or home.
This first sculpture born from a new family of work is made of pigmented concrete.
The totem here is 2m high but can be commissioned in different sizes, colours and finishes. Totem can of course be indoors.

Bronze Table

From my own frustration at not finding a table came the idea of sculpting one and casting it in bronze (my very favourite medium). The result: a sculpture turning into a table or a table turning into a sculpture!
Table or bench.. inside or outside..you choose. Different patinas possible.

Sculptures

Sculpture makes me tingle with excitement and allows me to express many different aspects of my emotions.
While the fire sculptures are focused on the interaction between metal and flames, my bronze sculptures translate moments and feelings experienced through life.rn

Moon Table

Best known for her quirky “hot rod” fire sculptures which have earned her a worldwide reputation for creating “Art in the Hearth” artist Cathy Azria has now followed the design through to create a series of side tables available in different metallic finishes. Here the table top is in brushed stainless steel; Other tops include bronze sheet and a solid bronze casted top in a choice of wonderful patinas. All tables are made to special commission.
