What We Do

“Just as for our ancesters, the hearth represented a focal point of life, my sculptures are designed as the focal point of the room, entertaining the dancing flames.” Cathy Azria

From the beginning, mankind has been fascinated by fire. A source of heat and comfort in primal times, no wonder that it came to represent the essence of ‘home’. Today, our sculptures replace sticks and branches with steel shapes. But they are far from inert; steel is a natural material, glowing intensely when hot and emitting crackles as it heats and cools.

Depending on the background colour chosen for the fireplace aperture, the sculptures will either sit discreetly in the fireplace and spring to life when the flames flare through the steel (dark background) or make a stronger permanent statement when sitting in front of a light background.

At the beginning of each commission we will assess the proposed fire opening and work with the client to decide which “family” of sculptures they choose from, ie Bonfire, Metropolis, Urchin; Loop, Coil, Planes or Moon. The client will also choose the desired finish.

Natural: which will develop an evolving patina
Black : no oxydation or change of colour
Bright Metal: starts as a silvery colour and has a differently evolving patina.

We work closely with carefully selected Corgi gas technicians and are happy to pass these contacts to clients. Clients can either contact us directly or ask us to co-ordinate the installation. Clients may have their own technician who we happy to work with. We can also make inner metal fireboxes to measure so that they fit the aperture exactly.

The full satisfaction of our clients (who often become friends) is essential. We are ready to help no matter what stage the project is at and, if necessary, can participate in the design of the surround.
